Christmas Showcase Success

On a cold December evening a warm glow came from The Bay Theatre in Weymouth as young people from across the county came together to perform.

On Sunday 4 December audiences were wowed by youth performing arts groups showcasing their talents at The Bay Theatre in Weymouth at this year’s Activate and Friends Christmas Showcase. There were brilliant moments on stage from The Remix (Activate’s inclusive performing arts group) signing along to songs from The Greatest Showman, incredible contemporary dance, mischievous elves causing havoc, a dance inspired by Peaky Blinders, a moving piece involving chairs, and a solo singer leaving the audience speechless.

Activate had once again invited groups from across Dorset to perform together at its annual Christmas showcase. This year featured performances from:

  • The Remix
  • The Premix
  • The Remix Originals
  • Dorset Youth Dance (Juniors, Seniors and Company)
  • Weymouth Curtain Raisers
  • Weymouth Dance Studio
  • Weymouth College

We were also delighted to welcome Dorset-based hip hop artist Isaish Dreads who performed at the end of the evening. Isaiah has recently worked with Activate on projects including Green Space Dark Skies and Performing Dunescapes.

The evening was compered by the talented Finley Tozer and Ben Cecil from Weymouth College.

The talent on stage was clear and showed how brilliant the young people of Dorset are. We can’t wait to bring even more groups together for next year’s showcase!
