Sense Of Unity at Milton Keynes City of Light Festival
This is a past event
This 50–60-minute dusk parade show brought together two of Europe’s most in-demand outdoor arts companies fresh from their success at Inside Out Dorset Festival: Dundu from Germany and the north of England’s Worldbeaters Drummers.
The parade started at Midsummer Place, winding for one mile down Midsummer Avenue to the Hub, and then onto to Milton Keynes Station. Samba-style drumming from World Beaters accompanied the procession, along with an ethereal Kora player and a lively Bhangra Performance by Eternal Taal.
Speeches from the organisers and invited guests followed the Sense of Unity finale, before large LCD screens displayed digital light projections created by the local community at recent artist-led workshops . These were followed by performances from the Eternal Taal Bhangra group and the Fusion of Caribbean Steel Drum Band.
Rounding off the evening a powerful interactive laser show; Seb-Lee Delisle’s ‘Laser Light City’ project. A multiple array of powerful lasers on the roof of the station beamed light and colour into the sky. The colours, patterns and positions of the lasers could be changed by the public via a Smartphone App.
