The Art of Belonging: What makes you who you are?

Ready to get creative this half term?

Join us for two fun-packed days of writing and performing workshops led by ethnically diverse professional writers, performers and musicians.

Together we’ll explore the stories, places and things that make you feel you belong.

No previous experience needed, just a willingness to have a go!

What’s in store?

• Dance with amazing choreographers including Vrushali Harihar

• Create and perform your own rap with Isaiah Dreads

• Design and build a paper theatre and puppets with Mahtab Grimshaw

• Write your own poem with Louisa Adjoa Parker

Purchase of a £38 ticket includes both Thursday 30 and Friday 31 October workshops. You will be expected to attend both days.

Workshops will take place at Lighthouse in Poole and will run from 10am – 3.30pm (with optional extension sessions 9am-4pm) on both days. Please bring a packed lunch.

Workshops are suitable for ages 7 to 14. Participants will be grouped by age.

As part of our commitment to providing access and widening opportunity we can offer a limited number of bursaries for the workshop programme. These are offered due to the generous funding awarded by the Talbot Village Trust.

Eligibility: The funding is to increase opportunities for young people of colour from BCP and East Dorset to engage in creative arts activities and to remove economic barriers that could prevent them from doing so. To apply please write a short paragraph to outline how you meet these criteria and send it to caroline@activateperformingarts.org.uk
