Dusk ’til Dark Illuminations – Peixos by Sarruga
This is a past event
Another spectacular event delighted thousands who lined the streets as Activate once more, brought a fantastic, Dusk ’til Dark, illuminated evening performance parade to Weymouth town centre on 23 and 24 September, 2022.
Each evening, as dusk fell, Peixos (which means ‘fish’ in Catalan) wound its way down the Esplanade creating a spellbinding parade inside an eerie underwater world which featured luminescent sea creatures and gigantic bicycle-powered wizardry as well as a large helping of fun and laughter.
In the lead up to the event Activate hosted summer workshops encouraging children and young people to make their own fishy creations. They were displayed in shop windows around Weymouth bringing the community together in the build up to the parade event.
Last September, as part of Inside Out Dorset festival, Activate presented Sense of Unity – an illuminated parade of giant puppets, also in Weymouth town centre. Due to its success we were delighted to return this September with Peixos by Barcelona-based theatre company, Sarruga which .
Presented in partnership with We Are Weymouth and Weymouth Town Council.
