Join us for a day of youth dance workshops at Dorchester Arts this February half term.

Learn from experienced dancers and choreographers practising in the styles of Street, African, Jazz and Musical Theatre.

The workshops will be grouped by age: 7-12 years and 13-19 years. Your dance experience will also be considered. The workshops are open to all although it is expected that participants will have some previous experience of dance classes or workshops.

Choose your dance style and come for just one workshop or stay for the whole day and experience four different dance styles! £8 per workshop or £30 for the whole day.

About your workshop leaders:

Street Dance
Isaac Farmer is an experienced street dance teacher and choreographer and has been dancing for fifteen years with Shake Dance. He has won multiple titles at regional, national and international level including UDO World Super Crew Champions in 2019. His credits include performing with High Five on Britain’s Got Talent, MOVE IT Main Stage and Breakin’ Convention UK Tour.

African Dance
Penny Avery is an accomplished and experienced dancer with over 20 years of performance and teaching experience. Striving to inspire and bring the joy of dance to others, she brings a fusion of genres from African, contemporary, freestyle and Afrobeat. Having taught and performed worldwide including South Korea, France, Switzerland and throughout the UK, Penny has gained a great following. Her talent has seen her shortlisted to choreograph for acclaimed series and she was a video solo dancer for a renowned hip hop artist at the 2008 MTV awards. Penny now brings her founded a new dance ‘Freedom Soul Dance’, in 2022.

Jazz Dance
Charlotte Fernandes trained professionally at Laine Theatre Arts and Wilkes Academy. Her credits include events for companies such as P&O Cruises, Mercedes and National Rail and performing for Floyd Mayweathers’ UK tour. She has achieved World Championship titles and trained as part of the BoyBlue Company in Hip Hop. Charlotte recently choreographed The Redgrave Theatres pantomime, Aladdin, in 2022. Charlotte has choreographed and taught for many years and has a passion for sharing her knowledge and experience across multiple dance styles with those that she teaches.

Musical Theatre Dance
Myles Cork trained at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. His credits include Carnival Cruise line, Carnival Dreams (Fairfield Hall), TED First Choice HV, Heineken Cup Final (Twickenham Stadium) and The Bodyguard UK and international tour. Myles’ workshop will include dance repertoire from The Bodyguard.

Plan Your Visit

Dorchester Corn Exchange is located on High East Street in the centre of Dorchester.

We encourage participants to walk or take public transport to our events when they can. The closest bus stop is The Museum (stop D) or Trinity Street (stop C2).

Dorchester is served by two train stations, Dorchester West and Dorchester South, both are a 10 minute walk to Dorchester Corn Exchange.

There is no parking at the venue but town centre car parks are close by.
