Maheen Mohammadally
Producer - Theatre and Engagement
Maheen is a producer, writer and director with over 20 years’ experience working across theatre, education, community engagement and large-scale public events.
Her career has spanned freelance theatre producing, directing and writing, alongside roles in education and project leadership. She has produced work ranging from intimate theatre productions to large-scale cultural events, including Eid in the Square, the Mayor of London’s annual celebration of Muslim culture. Most recently, as Education Coordinator at The Grange Festival, she developed programmes bringing opera and creativity to young people and communities, including an outdoor arts festival in partnership with Hampshire Music Service and the University of Winchester.
At Activate, Maheen leads on theatre and engagement projects, supporting artists, participants and communities to create ambitious, inclusive and meaningful experiences. She is particularly interested in the power of stories, participation and creativity to connect people and strengthen relationships between people and place.
Maheen’s favourite Activate moment: Ask her again in a few months! Right now, she’s excited to discover Dorset’s artists, communities and creative spaces.
When she’s not working: Maheen loves theatre, long conversations, books, walks by the sea and finding joy in everyday moments. She is happiest when she’s creating something or helping others bring their ideas to life.
Maheen uses the pronouns she/her.
