Activate Performing Arts are thrilled to announce that we have been selected to receive a grant from the Talbot Village Trust for the development of a diverse-led youth performance group for young people of colour in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP). The Talbot Village Trust awards more than £1 million a year to charities working to improve the quality of life for people across east Dorset.
Activate’s project will increase opportunities for ethnically diverse young people to be able to see themselves on stage, relate to and feel an increased sense of belonging whilst taking part in performing arts activities. Planning is already underway with performing arts professionals for a pilot of performing arts workshops focusing on acting, creative writing, storytelling, singing and dance that will enable young people to express their best selves through performance.
Activate will be reporting on the progress of this new and exciting project over the coming months.
