Peixos in Weymouth – a huge success

Thousands of people enjoyed the spellbinding parade on 23 & 24 September 2022.

“Brilliant event. So nice to see the town full… Well done to all involved! So nice to see so many families enjoying it.”

As dusk fell on two autumnal evenings in the seaside town of Weymouth an ocean adventure began. The eyes of thousands of spectators lit up, people pointed and stared at the wonder that is ‘Peixos’.

This extraordinary spellbinding parade contained bicycle-powered sharks, jellyfish and other sea creatures. ‘Peixos’ (which means ‘fish’ in Catalan) weaved its way through the streets of Weymouth on 23 and 24 September. Thousands of people lined the streets to experience the parade that takes onlookers inside an eerie underwater world.

Sarruga, the Barcelona-based company performing this extraordinary show, definitely brought the carnival atmosphere and made sure Weymouth’s residents and visitors had a night to remember.

After the success of Sense of Unity (a parade of giant puppets and drumming from companies Worldbeaters and Dundu) in Weymouth in 2021 as part of our Inside Out Dorset festival, we were delighted to work in partnership with We Are Weymouth and Weymouth Town Council again to ensure the success of another evening performance.

Watch this space for more of our work taking place in the town.
