From 25th – 28th July 2022 children and young people from across Dorset took part in a performing arts Summer School coordinated by Activate Performing Arts.
Over 40 children and young people took part and were thrilled to share what they had learned in a short performance to family and friends as a finale. The Activate Summer School was fully inclusive with one-to-one support available if needed. It took place at Weymouth College Bay Studios and the participants enjoyed making slippery fish, jelly fish and even a humpbacked whale. Parents were invited to come along to see what the young people had created on the final day.
Activate’s Producer for Youth, Dance and Diversity, Michaela Shaw said “It was such an amazing week, the children and young people have enjoyed every second, making new friends and creating not only a performance but making all of the props as well. It’s important for us to be fully inclusive so all children disabled, and non-disabled have had the opportunity to take part in such a brilliant week of creativity!”
The Summer School is supported by Dorset Council, Children in Need and Arts Council England.
