Celebrating Dorset’s Aspiring Young Performers
On the evening of 9th April, Dorchester showcased Dance, Theatre and Music performed by Dorset’s young talent. Ranging from solos to group performances, the audience experienced works devised by individuals, schools, colleges and youth organisations. This was a great opportunity to support and appreciate the hard work, energy and passion that the young people of Dorset put into the performing arts and was received well by invited professionals and audience alike.
The evening consisted of solos, duos and group works performed by Dorset Youth Dance Company and feeder class, Weymouth Dance Studio, Thomas Hardyes School, Dorchester Stagecoach, Weymouth College, The Remix East and West and guest duo brother and sister Brandon and Mia who serenaded the audience through the interval.
Activate’s Youth Platform was co-produced by the organisation’s Youth Board, a collective of young people aged 16-25 who advise the organisation on its programme of work. As members of the Youth Board, they had the opportunity to work closely with the Activate team to experience firsthand the inner workings of organising a small scale event and develop skills within the creative industries.
