The Inclusive Rehearsal Room: CPD Workshop
Tuesday, 8 December 2015 from 10:00 to 15:00 (GMT)
£50 (concessions available)
A training and networking opportunity for artists, practitioners, producers and cultural leaders in the Performing Arts who are interested in sharing ideas and learning about models of integrated performance. The training is delivered by Diverse City's Chief Executive Claire Hodgson and Senior Associate Jamie Beddard. Both are Clore Fellows and are experts in working with disabled artists.
You will learn how to widen access and participation to the performing arts for people with physical and sensory impairments and learning disabilities. You will identify barriers to access and gain input into developing your own creative practice and teaching. This CPD will improve your confidence in welcoming all artists - both disabled and non disabled - equally into your creative projects. Become an active ambassador for inclusive practice, working to transform the South West into an example of best practice in creative diversity.
Diverse City was founded by current CEO Claire Hodgson in 2005, and nominated for the 2014 National Diversity Awards. The company is a leader in ambitious integrated performance and performance training, bringing together disabled and non-disabled people. Diverse City received the Clore 50th anniversary Prize in 2014 as recognition of their work and was Awarded Community Project of the Year at the European Diversity Awards 2015.
“Diverse City’s work is truly pioneering; they are cultural entrepreneurs working towards a step-change in the sector. The ambition of the company - to place diverse groups at the centre of the industry - reaches wide into the fields of training, leadership, performance, professional development and the culture of the workplace.” Arts Council England
