Dorset Youth Dance Company (DYD) returns for a new term in September 2020, kicking off with an open classes for new dancers to give DYD a try. DYD is a county wide youth dance company offering high quality dance experiences, for young people who have a real passion and enthusiasm for dance and want to take that extra leap in training. DYD Company dancers hone their technique, develop choreography and enjoy dance together in a fun and safe environment. Performance opportunities are presented, with DYD having previously presented work at Origins, U.Dance South West, Inside Out Dorset Festival and many others. Dancers are also provided with workshops with touring professional companies, when possible.
Focusing on contemporary dance, dancers have the opportunity to work as part of a professional youth dance company (ages 12-25) or the creative class for 7-11 year olds. The young dancers are lucky to be lead by inspiring and renowned former Motionhouse dance artist and youth dance leader, Claire Benson.
