Ahead of his evening performance of Goodbye Gunther, we're delighted that Frank Wurzinger will be running a clown workshop at the Lyric from 10am - 1pm for ages 16+.
This workshop is about finding the pleasure of playing even when we don’t know what we are doing. The Clown might feel stupid, ridiculous and completely inappropriate but has a huge sense of pleasure in playing. We learn that it’s OK to make mistakes, be bad and fail - the audience loves the Clown for sharing their unique inaptness.
The workshop includes:
Physical warm up including awareness of body and group, partner exercises, complicite
Finding the pleasure of being on stage
Exploring relationship between performer and audience
The red nose
Status exercises, master, servants
Clown technique: slapstick falling, tripping, chair, simple stage fight
Devising a little routine in small groups
Participants are asked to bring lots of different bits of clothing, if possible, such as coats, shoes, hat, too big, too small, tasteful/less, jackets, trousers... anything you might look and feel stupid in!
£20 adults / £10 full-time students.
Please email: firstname.lastname@example.org, call/leave message on 01308 423951 or pop into the Lyric (ring the doorbell if doors are closed) at 9 Barrack Street, Bridport.
