Fl-utter-ances (a project for Inside Out Dorset Festival Outreach 2018)

August 2018.

Fl-utter-ances project

Activate presents a charming film documentary by Mike Petitdemange gives a joyful insight into the ongoing Fl-utter-ances project, an outreach project managed by Activate.

Fl-utter-ances Tree Songs 2018 explored the natural environment around Cherry Tree Plant Nursery, running workshops with participants as part of their sheltered work opportunities programme. What made the project special for those who participated was the lived experiences they could bring of dealing with challenges around their personal mental health.

Through the unique sounds & sights at Cherry Tree, artists Jane Pitt and Lorna Rees used an array of clever methods of seeing and listening: drawing, laid back tree canopy studies & tapping in to hidden tree sounds to engage participants in exploration and creative activity.

The workshops were enabled by funding from The Valentine Trust and The Alice Ellen Cooper-Dean Foundation as well as Arts Council England's NPO support and the resulting film documents the sessions over May and June 2018.
