Dorset Theatre Promoters Consortium (DTPC)

The DTPC is a consortium of venues and programmers who meet regularly to share knowledge and ideas so that more contemporary performance can be supported and presented across Dorset Bournemouth and Poole.  DTPC have co-commissioned new work, co-present work and help programmers to offer companies and artists more touring opportunities locally. 

DTPC were the network behind the creation of our Inside Out Dorset festival and remain a steering group (with other organisations) to support it’s development as well as active partnership and event delivery with Activate depending on the event and the site location.  DTPC are a committed membership to contemporary practice and partnership working.


Activate is a member of DTPC and currently chairs the consortium.  Other members include:


Artsreach - is the rural touring agency for Dorset and provides a wide range of events, working in collaboration with a network of local voluntary promoters, primarily in village halls across rural Dorset.


Bridport Arts Centre – offers contemporary performance and workshops in its theatre and three galleries – plus a café bar.


Dorchester Arts (formerly Dorchester Arts Centre) - programmes theatre, dance and music performances, workshops and outreach work – and organises the biennial Dorchester Festival., workshops and outreach work - and a


Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts - is the largest English arts centre outside London.  It has two theatres, concert hall, cinema, image lab, gallery, café and bars.


Marine Theatre – the ‘little theatre by the sea’ in Lyme Regis runs a programme of contemporary performance and support for companies making new work in their ‘R&D By The Sea Programme.


Pavilion Dance – is the new regional dance centre in Bournemouth, presenting, commissioning offering regular classes in dance.  Home to Pavilion Dance South West the regional dance development agency, it is also member of the National Dance Agency network.


The Bay Theatre at Weymouth College – offers a range of performing arts, further and higher education course and programmes theatre, dance and music in its 250 seat theatre.
