Working with Diverse City and La Breche circus creation centre, through the PASS Circus Channel Project Remix Gold has collaborated on the creation of a dynamic new show. 'Touched' is a multi-disciplinary performance combining dance, theatre, circus and BSL sign language across 3 performance platforms in summer/autumn 2014. The company performed at Southbank Unlimited Festival in London, Activate’s Inside Out Festival in Dorset and Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts. The show will continue in rep until the Autumn of 2016.
They were also involved in filming scenes for the next show ‘Arret Complet’ in France by sister company – the French Remix which was shown during La Breche’s national circus festival in March 2015: ‘Spring’. A programme of regular aerial circus training workshops led by aerial artist and teacher Lyndsey Andrew from Levitate Aerial Acrobatics supported the work that the French artists developed. Activate staff travelled to Cherbourg to see the work and met with the artists leading the French Remix at Spring festival and during their visits to the UK.
Auditions have been held to recruit new members to Remix Gold and the company now has 11 members who will work together throughout a programme of regular weekly performance workshops and rehearsals for led by Claire Hodgson and visiting guest artists from France. Workshops will be held on Tuesday evenings at Leaf Studio in Bournemouth.
Members of Remix Gold attended National Youth Circus Event 2015 at the National Centre for Circus Arts in London. This was the second time that the company has been selected and it remains the only fully inclusive company to take part.
A member of Remix Gold was selected for the National Centre for Circus Arts CAT (Centre for Advanced Training) scheme training 2014-15 and has been able to access funded circus training sessions in London and regular aerial training in Dorset as a result of his selection
Through this unique collaboration through the PASS partnership Activate has strengthened partnerships with the National Centre for Circus Arts, Unlimited and Shape to bring in additional funding for specialist circus training, mentoring and performance platforms.
