Description

Re-Found Sound is a live music programme based in Dorset County Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital, funded by the Arts Council of England. Working directly with patients, staff and visitors the project builds on previous residency programmes and regular music performances. Our project is focusing on patients with Dementia and cognitive impairments who tend to be older people.

As part of our project we are offering the opportunity for 4 individuals aged 18 or over to learn more about developing their skills. Each trainee will have the opportunity to be mentored by an experienced musician from Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, attend two training events delivered by staff from Wigmore Hall and shadow musicians currently working in either hospital. The aim of the training programme is to increase skills, confidence and experience sufficiently for trainees to be able to plan and deliver music sessions in our hospitals. This is an unpaid opportunity but we are able to offer all travel and training expenses. The traineeship is flexible and can work around existing employment or educational commitments but will require a commitment of a minimum of 10 days.

If you would like to apply for one of the trainee place please email your CV along with a covering letter outlining why you are interested to Georgia.beattie@ydh.nhs.uk

The programme is funded from September 2015 to July 2016.
