Angel Exit Theatre are seeking two energetic and enthusiastic performers (male or female) for exciting new project taking place at Kew Gardens this Summer.
Saffron, Clove and Ginger are “Strictly Spice”, an international dance troupe of travelling spice sales people who are passionate about seasoning! Through their spicy sales-pitches of dance, song and story the trio tell tales of the swashbuckling history and the fascinating biochemistry of spices. Three professional performers will deliver “Strictly Spice” with three scientists from Kew Gardens.
We are looking for performers who enjoy, and are confident in, improvisation and interactive character work. You will need to relish working with the public and feel comfortable facilitating activities with both adults and children. You'll be performing outdoors and teaching fun dance routines, singing songs, improvising in character and facilitating conversations between the public and Kew scientists. A typical day will see performers setting up the installation in the garden, interacting in character with the public from 11 - 4 (with an hour lunch break), before packing away the installation at the end of the day.
Ideally you will have experience of:
* Outdoor performance
* Interactive character work
* Physical theatre
* Working with children
We are looking at teaching dance styles including Bollywood, Swing, Ballroom and Latin – so we'd be very interested in hearing from performers with experience or knowledge of these styles of dance.
It would be useful for you to take a look at a video from last years project at Kew Gardens Plant Family Croquet:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzZ4ZXMGOGo. And at other projects on our website: http://www.angelexit.co.uk
