The Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis is a 120 year old working theatre, set in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and surrounded by 95 miles of Jurassic Coastline.
The Marine Theatre is a local venue with a national reputation; it is an artistic hub where local residents and visitors are united and inspired by a programme of excellent and diverse performance. It provides a platform for artists from across the world to develop, nurture and promote their work through our Arts Council funded ‘R&D by the Sea’ programme; it provides a thriving Youth Theatre within the community which takes part in national schemes such as Shakespeare Schools Festival and National Theatre Connections. It also works closely with local community groups to provide a venue for events, rehearsals and amateur performances.
Many seaside and small scale venues of this nature have closed, but the Marine Theatre has been lucky enough to have its place at the heart of the community recognized by the long-term financial support of its local councils.
The Marine is now at an exciting point of development and growth and is seeking new, dynamic trustees to join its Board. We would welcome expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in supporting our work but in particular, are looking for those with a background in Law, HR, Fundraising, Business Development or Project Management.
Most essentially, prospective trustees need to have a passion for the performing arts and a commitment to the survival of an historic regional theatre.
