Stage Designer

Bridport Youth Dance is looking for a skilled and creative stage designer who is capable in creating an overarching look to BYD’s show Out Of The Woods. The role is a combination of creativity and practicality, as the stage designer will need to conceptualise an idea, design it and then make it a reality.  We also require this individual to assemble and erect the set, as well as dismantle and remove once the show is finished.

The role is one which fits inside the planning stages of a production, starting right at the conceptual planning meeting and running through right until opening night.  The stage designer will need an understand the concepts of the production, work closely with artistic director Nikki Northover and choreographer Aimee Symes, and have a good understanding of the creative sphere.

Out Of The Woods will be held at Bridport Electric Palace.  The set will need to be erected on Saturday 3rd March and the shows are the 9th and 10th of March.  Dismantling of the set will take place 11th March.  Tech and dress rehearsals will be most evenings, week commencing 5th March.  The stage designer may be needed within this time frame if a problem arises.

Bridport Youth Dance shows comprises of over 100 talented young people from Bridport and the surrounding areas.  It is a mixed show showcasing tap and contemporary dances with live music and original costumes and lighting.  This year’s theme is journeys.
