Producer and Assistant Director, open-air theatre, Lyme Regis (unpaid)

The Marine Theatre is seeking a local (expenses only) Producer and Assistant Director to work on an open-air production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest celebrating Lyme’s seafaring history in the Americas.

This July the Marine Theatre will stage an open-air production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest on Theatre Square in Lyme Regis. With magnificent views of Lyme Bay as a backdrop, the production will involve 50 local performers, singers and musicians. It will be directed by Marine Artistic Director Clemmie Reynolds who will be writing a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s play with the theatre’s Patron award-winning playwright Andrew Rattenbury to celebrate the Twentieth anniversary of Lyme’s twinning with St George’s in Bermuda.  This new adaptation of the play will weave into Shakespeare’s play, the story of Lyme Regis naval hero Sir George Somers, who founded Bermuda, colonised Virginia and whose shipwreck allegedly inspired The Tempest.
