We are embarking on an exciting £3.4m National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported project which will transform Poole Museum into a major visitor attraction and community hub by 2023. This is a great opportunity to work on the whole project with a range of stakeholders to display Poole Museum’s outstanding collection of four ancient ships and boats, and associated finds and collections, as a key member of the project team. You will write the interpretation plan for the whole project, working with the curatorial team and colleagues from partner organisations and the community.
Poole Museum’s visitor numbers have doubled since the previous redevelopment in 2007 and it is already Dorset’s most visited free attraction. The project will provide new facilities which meet the needs of our audiences, redisplay our important collection of ancient boats and ships, and conserve and reveal the most important medieval commercial building in the country. This is a great opportunity to work for the new BCP Council to deliver one of its flagship cultural projects.
The post is temporary to Autumn/Winter 2021, when we will hear whether our application for NLHF round 2 funding has been successful, with the hope that it will be and the post will continue until the successful completion of the project in 2023.
