Raising The Game 2015: Workshops announced

Each year, NAYT hosts our annual unmissable training event Raising The Game for youth theatre practitioners. This year’s Raising The Game will take place at Derby Theatre 18-20th September.

Delegates participate in exciting high-quality workshops for refreshing old skills and learning new ways to work with young people in the arts. It’s also a great event for networking and meeting like-minded practitioners from across the country.

Play-wrighting & scripting: Rachel Barnett
Rachel will lead a playwriting workshop sharing tried and tested ways of generating scripts with and for young people through writing games. The writing games work with all ages and are dynamic and interactive. http://www.rachelbarnett.co.uk/

Devising with a large cast: Rob Watt
Rob is the Youth Programme Manager at the National Theatre, and teaches at the Royal School for Speech & Drama and Young Company Direct at the Orange Tree Theatre. His workshop will involve devising and directing work with a large ensemble cast. http://www.robwatt.co.uk/

Socially conscious theatre-making: Ava Hunt
Using a range of different approaches Ava will gently navigate through the pitfalls and challenges when creating work from personal experience, political/social issues to produce high quality, socially conscious theatre. Ava has worked as an actor, director/youth theatre, producer, researcher and programmer for Hull Truck Theatre, Shared Experience, Derby Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse and was a founding member of Tangere Arts. http://www.avahunt.co.uk/

Mask & Physical Theatre: Trestle
Trestle are one of the leading providers of school workshops, teacher training and participation programmes in the country, running workshops, projects and residencies nationally and internationally. They will be running a specialised workshop on physical theatre and mask work at Raising The Game. http://www.trestle.org.uk/

Each workshop lasts three hours in total. Participants will also receive a free ticket to the performance of Derby Theatre’s Brassed Off on the Friday night. https://www.derbytheatre.co.uk/brassed
