Musical Director

CHRISTCHURCH MUSIC CENTRE seeks a new Musical Director to lead their Saturday morning centre for the young and young at heart. CMC is a dynamic, friendly setting for learners of all ages to come together and make music. The Musical Director should be an enthusiastic educator with conducting and leadership skills. They will select music to perform, plan and lead rehearsals and performances, and enable an enjoyable, confident experience for all. Together with the committee, the Musical Director will assist in the administrative details of leading the musical groups. 

 

Christchurch Music Centre is an independent centre consisting of two concert bands and a brass ensemble, supported by the Soundstorm Music Hub and BCP council, based at Twynham School in Christchurch. We are looking for a well organized and strong leader. The successful candidate will be creative, encouraging and reliable. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and be confident in front of a crowd. An in-depth knowledge of music is essential, as well as a high proficiency in at least one performance area.

 

Musical Director Duties and Responsibilities 

•To plan and coordinate performance schedules throughout the academic year

•To select appropriate and diverse pieces of music to suit and enhance all players, utilizing the talents and skills of all group members to the best of their abilities

•To collaborate with the committee, members, venues and other organisations

•To rehearse and train the concert bands and assist the brass ensemble where required

•To lead performances

•To be the public face of Christchurch Music Centre
