Wild Rumpus are delighted to be inviting applications to join their small team in our woodland office space as Marketing and Communications Officer. They eare looking for a creative, nature loving geek, to blend an understanding and passion for their events with the technical skills to communicate about them digitally to a family audience. They will also need to be personable and confident, coordinating our local and regional relationships with other organisations to promote Wild Rumpus' work through them, in print and in person, to their existing and potential family audience.

About Wild Rumpus

Wild Rumpus immerse families in incredible stories. They produce ambitious outdoor large scale events such as Just So Festival and the Lost Carnival, are the founders of the Northern Festivals Network, and work from a woodland in Cheshire, which also offers volunteers and creative individuals a place to explore the outdoor arts sector.

The events that Wild Rumpus organise take families out of their day to day lives into enchanting places and stories. Wild Rumpus believe in the power of a moment of wonder to open a families eyes to the magic in everyday life.

Key Responsibilities

Planning

Developing and implementing marketing and audience development plans with the directors.

Digital Marketing

  • delivering social media campaigns across our events and activities
  • copy writing
  • digital content curation
  • updating websites
  • writing, creating and distributing mailchimp campaigns
  • coordinate and deliver cross-promotional activity with partners and sponsors.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver reports on the success of campaigns and marketing activity.
  • Filing and categorising marketing images and materials.
  • Working with graphics and images, resizing and adapting existing materials.

Offline Marketing

  • distribute printed materials locally and regionally
  • Maintaining local and regional promotional partnerships
  • Research into existing and new routes to audiences.
  • Audience Development tasks to gain and sustain new audiences

Person specification

Essential

At least 2 years’ experience in a similar or closely related role.

Excellent written & verbal communication skills and ability to shape content according to the platform and audience

Experience and understanding of delivering content across a range of social media platforms, particularly facebook, instagram and pinterest.

Some experience of using content management systems and databases (WordPress/podio)

Experience of and understanding of Mailchimp, including automation and analytics.

Experience of and understanding of social advertising, and the ability to manage and report on simultaneous campaigns.

Excellent attention to detail

Organised and flexible approach to multiple tasks and experience of working to deadlines

Self-motivated and able to use initiative

Confidence to speak in person about the Wild Rumpus events and activities

Ability to network effectively locally and regionally in order to build new cross-promotional partnerships.

Willingness to initiate and take on the leg work of local marketing, dropping flyers off at libraries and schools, ringing PTAs and arranging ticket competitions etc.

Excellent IT skills and understanding of a wide range of web and software tools.

Ability to be thoroughly knowledgeable about Wild Rumpus and its culture and activities.

Understanding of and shared passion for family arts outdoors, and the ethos of Wild Rumpus.

Understanding that this is a commercial role, with ticket sales targets and related KPIs.

Fluent spoken and written English

Existing right to work in the UK

Desire to work in a woodland, and understanding that this involves insects and compost toilets as well as idyllic moments.

Ability to drive and access to own transport

Desirable

Experience of working with and creating graphics in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Experience of and understanding of Google analytics, including goals and conversions.

Wild Rumpus works from a woodland near Scholar Green in Cheshire, ST7 3QJThey are flexible employers, and there will the opportunity to work flexibly/from home some of the time.
