Bridport Youth Dance is currently looking for a contemporary dance teacher on a permanent part time basis from January /February 2021.
The position is suitable for someone who is willing to push the students technically and have a sound and solid foundation in contemporary technique themselves (Release and Cunningham experience, ideally) . They would also need to be passionate about choreography as next year Bridport Youth Dance are making a film, a site specific performance and staging an annual production at The Electric Palace on September 24-25th. There will be the requirement of steady creation of exciting, dynamic work throughout the year.
The position would involve teaching after school on Mondays and Tuesdays:
Monday 4.15 to 5pm - Middle contemporary 1 – age 10 to 12 years
5.15 to 6pm - Middle contemporary 2 - age 13 to 17 years
6.15 to 7pm - Senior contemporary (intermediate)
7.15 to 8pm - Advanced contemporary
Tuesdays 4.15 to 5 pm - Junior boys
5.15 to 6pm - Middle contemporary - age 13 to 16 years
6.15 to 7pm - Senior boys
7.15 to 8.15 pm. - Advanced contemporary
The payment is £20 an hour plus petrol.
At times the post will also involve rehearsals on a Saturday afternoon.
Bridport Youth Dance offers a vibrant after school dance programme, specific classes for boys, a Summer School ‘Summer Dance Scene’, an annual production and other creative and artistic opportunities. This could be a fantastic opportunity for a young dance graduate who has trained to at least degree level. You will be involved in creative and collaborative projects that will involve experimentation.
