Description

Arts University Bournemouth is seeking a Coder in Residence who can help us to further develop ways to integrate computational thinking in the study of all subject areas across AUB. The aim is to enhance student experience and prepare them for the digital future that inevitably awaits them.

The post-holder will have high levels of knowledge and the ability and skills to demonstrate the relevance and importance of computational thinking in curricula development across the arts with respect to coding, mark-up and the application of digital thinking.

They will engage widely with the AUB community finding ways, through curricula development activities, workshops and talks, to demonstrate the relevance and pervasive nature of computational thinking and the possibilities of using new digital technologies. The Coder in Residence will work closely with Deans of Schools, Course Leaders, and course teams to identify opportunities to promote computational thinking in ways appropriate to different disciplines, thereby inspiring staff and students to incorporate computational approaches into their practice.

The post holder will also be given time and negotiated resources to develop their own response to their experience at the University.

The post holder will be highly organised and an excellent communicator and also have the flexibility to work across the schools and departments of the University. They may have experience of working in one or more of the following areas: Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Data Visualisation. The post holder will also have highly developed skills with respect to languages used by the creative coding community such as Processing or open Frameworks and also may have knowledge of web-based technologies for example: JavaScript, XML, JSON, or RESTful.
