SeaChange Arts

SeaChange Arts is an independent arts charity dedicated to delivering outstanding circus and street arts. SeaChange has a local and international role, providing opportunities for the people of Great Yarmouth, including the annual Out There Festival, whilst leading and supporting complex European partnership projects that play a significant role in developing the circus and street arts sector.

For seven years SeaChange has managed a steady upward trajectory, becoming one of the UK's leading organisations in circus and street arts.  SeaChange Arts understands that outdoor work can have a transformational effect on its audiences and uses it to deliver on a wide range of agendas including regeneration, social inclusion, community cohesion, participation and tourism.

Coasters Strategic Touring Project

With the support of nearly £1million from the Arts Council, SeaChange Arts will create Coasters, a three year project that will take innovative, high quality indoor and outdoor circus and street arts work to coastal towns across England. SeaChange Arts will lead a consortium of organisations with the aim of building stronger relationships with audiences in areas of lower arts engagement and to help transform perceptions of coastal towns.

COASTERS will:

  • Bring UK and international street arts and circus companies to areas of the country that have limited access to work of this quality.
  • Develop relationships between artist and programmers, artists and audiences, and artists and a number of aspirational satellite partners, by developing sustained relationships through the programming of Associate Companies over the three years.
  • Develop a programme of touring shows that reflect, celebrate and resonate with the unique nature of contemporary UK coastal towns and their communities
  • Engage resident communities to embrace, and at times participate in the work through a considered and targeted Audience Development Plan. At the same time, challenging regional visitors to re-evaluate perceptions of the contemporary English seaside.

The project is led by SeaChange Arts with funding from the Arts Council's Strategic Touring Fund.  The rest of the partnership is made up of Activate in Dorset, Hull Freedom Festival, Hastings Borough Council, Worthing Theatres (Worthing Borough Council), Mouth of the Tyne Festival (North Tyneside), LeftCoast in Blackpool and Wyre, Dreamland Margate, So Festival in Skegness and Theatre Orchard.

Purpose of the Job/s

Working directly to the SeaChange Arts Creative Producer the post holder will be responsible for day to day management and implementation of the Coasters project and the evolution and sustainability of the COASTERS partnership beyond the life of the funded period.
