An exciting opportunity is available to join the Tourism & Corporate Communications team to develop and coordinate the delivery of a sustainable arts and cultural offer for everyone to participate in and enjoy. The successful post holder will have the creative flare to build Bournemouth’s profile and reputation as a creative and cultural place to live, visit and do business.
The Arts & Cultural Engagement Coordinator will be required to facilitate the development and delivery of the arts and cultural offer, deliver key projects and programmes and coordinate research and evaluation.
The post holder will need to have an interest and understanding of the impact of arts and culture on society, good knowledge of the Arts and Cultural sector within the local area and skilled with working with associated groups.

Specifically to: • Facilitate the development and delivery of the arts and cultural offer • Develop and coordinate arts and cultural projects and programmes and deliver key projects • Coordinate arts and cultural research and evaluation
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate the delivery of the cultural strategy, through third party organisations, events team, operations team and other parties identified as key to optimising delivery, including setting targets, service level agreements and standards and taking action to ensure these are achieved
Work in partnership with the destination marketing and communications team to develop and deliver the cultural strategy and increase the profile and reputation of arts and culture, maximise participation in and enjoyment of the offer and experience and to build the town’s profile and reputation as a creative and cultural place to live, visit and do business
Develop and oversee arts and cultural projects and programmes with partners which support the delivery of the cultural strategy, including delivering key strategic projects and programmes to specification, programme and budget. Programmes managed by direct reports or by ‘sub contracting’ to events team
Work with internal and external departments and organisations to assist with the development and delivery of strategic plans which have a link to arts and culture
Identify funding opportunities to support the delivery of the cultural strategy, prepare and submit grant funding applications, business, sponsorship and commissioning proposals, etc with partners and secure and maximise funding from the public, private and third sector
Assist the Head of Destination Development and Strategy with monitoring the Arts and Culture budget
Coordinate the strategic development of Bournemouth’s Arts by the Sea Festival and oversee its delivery via events and operations teams and voluntary bodies
Assist in the strategic development of Bournemouth’s public art offer, its integration with other strategy, policy, e.g. planning and urban design and manage public art projects
Create and maintain systems of measurement to monitor service provider contracts, SLAs and performance of the service, in order to monitor effectiveness of delivery of projects and strategy
Work with the Development and Strategy and Tourism team to ensure all Council practices, policies and procedures are adhered to
Responsible for ordering and procuring items using Marketplace for Arts & Culture projects
To attend operational meetings such as Health and Safety meetings, Safety Advisory Groups etc and to ensure that outputs are included into events, programmes and activities
Processing of debtors and creditors invoices and be a point of contact for departmental queries re Marketplace and debtors for specific projects
Monitor debtor invoices and chase outstanding debtors to ensure appropriate debt management
General Assistant (casual contract) and volunteers working at the Arts events
Internal contacts include Head of Destination Development and Strategy, Service Director for Tourism and Corporate Communications and other Council colleagues from Tourism Marketing, PR, Events and Planning teams
External contacts include organisations delivering programmes or projects, performers/ artists / agents / volunteers/ contractors/ suppliers and community groups as well as the general public, residents and visitor. Occassional weekend or evening work may be required for this role
