Join us for key role in determining the artistic and business development of the Brewhouse Theatre and Arts Centre in Taunton, Somerset’s County Town.

We seek an experienced Artistic Programmer who will bring creative and entrepreneurial skills to our team. The successful applicant will have a track record in developing and implementing dynamic theatre programmes and will offer a holistic approach that extends to curating our exhibition spaces and to contextual activities to support the artistic programme.

The Artistic Programmer will work closely with the Chief Executive and the Learning and Participatory Manager, who is being recruited now, as well as with experts who currently advise on elements of its artistic programme. An important part of the role will be to foster relations with promoters, agents, companies, artists and to develop partnerships with other arts and cultural enterprises.

The Brewhouse has been run since it re-opened in April 2013 by Taunton Theatre Association, a registered charity. In July 2015, TTA appointed Chief Executive, Vanessa Lefrançois; in August Southern Sinfonia relocated to Taunton and took up residency at the Brewhouse. TTA is steadily recruiting its core team to lead the next stage of the organisation’s development. The aim is to create an appealing, high-quality programme to cultivate and reach new audiences and increase the venue’s cultural, economic and social impact in the South West.

The Brewhouse is primarily a receiving house programming a variety of professional and community drama, dance, comedy, family and music performances. The main auditorium seats 352, the studio theatre 60. There is an art gallery two further exhibiting spaces and rooms for community engagement activities as well as outdoor performance space. TTA plans to revive its cinema programme and the Brewhouse is actively involved in local festivals and events.
