Flag it up Portland

Flag it up Portland is a community-crafting initiative, centred around gratitude. The project gives the residents of Portland the opportunity to nominate and celebrate their own local heroes by crafting 'Thank-You Flags', dedicated to them.

How to get involved

Flag it up Portland is a chance to become part of a community of crafters, learn some fun flag-making techniques and brighten up the streets of Portland, with colourful creations! Watch the 'how to' videos or download the pdf instructions below to get crafting.

Share your flags with artist Sophie Fretwell by taking a picture and sending to flagitupportland@gmail.com
If you don't live in Portland please still send through your creations to flagitup@activateperformingarts.org.uk.

Sophie will share the flags on a dedicated Facebook page. All flags shared on Facebook have a chance to win - the prize is your flag displayed at b-side's Outpost in the heart of Portland.

Please share your flags with Sophie by 31 August for a chance to be featured.

If you use the how-to guides below and make your own thank you flag, please complete this short survey to help us with future projects.
