UkuleleOpera presents FLEA!

UkuleleOpera presents FLEA! - a spectacular circus-themed community theatre production.

Based on an original idea by Sally Vaughan, written and composed by Andrew Dickson, and directed by Niki McCretton, FLEA! tells the story of Madame Celine, the devious and exotic ringmistress of an extraordinary flea circus, performed by Hester Goodman (of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain). FLEA! brings together a diverse range of professionals and around 100 community participants in the production and performance of an opera ‘la bouffe’ (rough opera).

The word ukulele literally means ‘jumping flea’ in Hawaiian and the show uses the instrument as the main theme in both the story and the music. It is, however, by no means the only theme. The show will bring together many different art forms including circus, music, dance, acting, design and making, digital technology… and even dog agility! FLEA! will appeal to a diverse audience, offering a thrilling spectacle that contains something for everybody, whatever your age or interests.

There will be six performances of FLEA! between 23-27 May 2017. Doors open 1 hour before each performance time:
