ALL ABOUT THE REMIX AND PREMIX 2017

The Remix is an inclusive youth performance company open to young people age 11 -19 both disabled and non-disabled from across Dorset. Premix is a younger group aimed at 7-11yrs

The Remix and Premix members include young people with physical and sensory impairments, young people with learning difficulties and non-disabled young people, all with a love of performance and the willingness to stretch themselves and have fun.

This groundbreaking company began as a Cultural Hub project in 2007 when local schools highlighted an opportunity for the formation of an integrated performance group.

Now, in 2018, The Remix has around 45 young people involved and continues to produce fantastic, high quality inclusive performance opportunities for young people in Bournemouth, Poole and across Dorset.

Over the years The Remix has worked with internationally renowned companies including CandoCo Dance Company, Graeae Theatre Company, Choreographer, KMA , Cirque Bijou and StopGap Dance Company.  They have performed in theatres and spaces all across the South West and in London.

The Remix is managed by Activate Performing Arts. It advocates for and delivers, diversity and equality of opportunity in culture and learning. The Remix team includes qualified care staff who are on hand to assist at all residencies and workshops. The project is overseen by Michaela Shaw, Activate's Producer for Youth dance and Diversity and Project Manager; Jude Allen, based at Activate Performing Arts.

The Remix meet in school holidays for extended Remix workshops lasting from 2-4 days, often finishing with a performance opportunity and one Sunday per month throughout the year at locations in Poole, Bournemouth and West Dorset. This is a fully-inclusive, friendly and creative company who are constantly recruiting for new members to join this exciting group.
