The Ecological Body Movement Workshop

This workshop seeks to 'unflatten' our perception of the world, to bring us back to the magical subject-to-subject relational life with others and with our surroundings that can so easily get lost in our day-to-day lives and that we need for creative, environmental work

We will move towards a condition of deep rest and relaxation as a starting point for any activity, action or act – looking for activity that seeks to respond creatively rather than to react blindly.

We will work outdoors in a walled garden on the clifftops and in a village hall. Beginning from a sense of the collective, from really acknowledging that:

how the wind is today affects how I am today…

my movement now affects you and your movement now…

your movement now affects all of the others and their movement now…

…until we can feel that 'how we are' affects what we do.

The joy of exploring through movement is that it can be a tangible, playful, sobering and constant process that you can practise anywhere, anytime. This week on the Dorset coast offers you the time to stop, to feel, to practise movement and to become more skilful in creating – through movement – the conditions where you can feel yourself to be one part of a patterned life, which includes your fellow human beings, rather than separate from it and them. This condition is a prerequisite for truly site specific, site-sensitive, environmental or ecological performance.
