Dance performance, Saturday 21st October, Sea Music Sculpture, Poole Quay
Dance begins 2.30pm
Enjoy a magical dance experience by local dancers who have worked with professional dancers and choreographers to present a dance performance on the Sea Music sculpture itself; Anthony Caro's monumental homage to the power of the sea, located on the quayside in Poole Harbour
Activate's Dance Producer, Rosalind Conlon was tasked with gathering a mixed cast of performers with different ages and dance experiences. The resulting group - whose energy, commitment and resulting dance piece have exceeded all expectations - have worked with choreographers Sophie & Marie Nüzel to create a special one off performance to be staged on the Sea Music sculpture.
Using Anthony Caro's Sea Music sculpture as inspiration they have translated the stories and sounds of the sea into movement creating a mesmorising and enjoyable event against the majestic backdrop of Poole Harbour.
The dance performance will be followed by a choir of local residents singing their song for Sea Music composed by Ali Sharpe.
This event is part of the opening of the #LoveSeaMusic and Sea Music in Residence exhibitions at Poole Museum.
FREE event, all welcome.
The Sea Music Project to conserve and celebrate the 25 year old sculpture by Anthony Caro is supported by Arts Council England Grants for the Arts and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
