New FREE Creative Drama Workshops for people with learning disabilities 18+ years, will be starting shortly at The Priest’s House Museum in Wimborne. The workshops are funded by East Dorset District Council and Wimborne Rotary Club, and will be led by Tony Horitz, State of Play Arts and Tam Gilbert, Persuasion Arts. Participants must have some previous acting experience as we aim to produce a regular Theatre Company, based at the Museum. Sessions will explore the Museum’s archives, stimulating performance pieces using drama, movement and music.
These taster monthly workshops follow on from a successful pilot project we ran last year. Feedback highlighted that this project should continue:
"This project is a wonderful opportunity to involve groups in the local community, who have previously found it difficult to make use of the museum, collecting their stories and helping them to access and benefit from the collections that the Museum holds."
- Emma Ayling, Curator, Priest's House Museum
“My favourite moment was when we looked around the stores where they had old gas masks from world war 2 and other fascinating objects”
“Nina gained confidence and you managed to achieve so much in such a short time. It was brilliant. Thank you!”
We are pleased to be able to provide light refreshments at sessions. Please note that Access support is available. However, we regret that we are unable to offer personal care and participants are asked to bring their own support worker, should they require assistance with this.
