Inspiring,engaging and entertaining speakers and workshop leaders including:

  • Adrian Evans, festival Director, The Mayor's Thames Festival and Pageant Master,Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant
  • Ali Pretty, Director of Kinetika carnival designer
  • Experienced carnival practitioners and community leaders from South West

Beautiful location for a Satuday on the Jurassic Cost. Free admission to Lyme Regis Museum. 

 THE PROGRAMME FOR THE DAY IS AS FOLLOWS:

10.30am - Arrival, coffees
10.45 - Welcome from Wendy Petitdemange, Activate; Sam Rose, Jurassic Coast & Chris Huxley, West Mead Creative 
11am - Pow Wow Panel – brief encounters and debate with:
· Jon Croose, currently researching PhD in the art of carnival
· Ali Pretty, Director Kinetica
· Tim Hill, Musical director of Quest
· Nick Green, Arts Council England, South West 

11.30 - Choice of practical workshop with Ali Pretty or Somerset maker Annabelle Macfadyen
12.15 - Lunch – with entertainment outside from Professor Nut and Poppy the Pliosaur and a free pass into Lyme Regis Museum next door.
1.45 - The Wow Factor – inspiration for doing it outdoors from:· Adrian Evans, Festival Director, The Mayor’s Thames Festival and Pageant Master, Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant 

2.15 - Maria Bota, director of Salisbury International Festival
2.30 - Nick Mercer, demonstrating Green Technology 

3.00 – Update from Alan Rogers re: Cultural Olympiad in Weymouth 

3.10 - Tea break
3.30 - Re-imagining carnival with Jon Croose (plus a chance to re-imagine ours.)
4.00pm   - Close

By the end of the day you will have looked at using a more creative approach to putting on carnivals, learnt how to make your event greener and had a chance to network with other carnival committees and artists.
