The Arts University (Short Courses Office) have designed a comprehensive range of exciting courses for those who share a passion for Film, Media & Acting related subjects.

Perhaps you are an aspiring actor or enthusiastic amateur, or you wish to be part of a new generation of Film Makers wanting to learn the essential skills in our hands-on courses.

You may have previous acting experience, but wish to master the essential skills of auditioning techniques.

We also offer professional Make-Up artistry for those who wish to gain an understanding of the different products, materials and application processes used within the performance, film, theatre and television industry.

Participants will be led, one-by-one, to the Garden Studio, where they will put on video goggles playing footage that has been filmed from a first person perspective. Guided by an 'invisible' performer, the wearer will then embark on a multi-sensory journey, a bizarre visual experience that will be enhanced through the use of smell, taste, touch and an immersive 3D soundtrack. When prompted to look down at their body they will see someone else's, as their brain is tricked into a mysterious illusion. Dance drama for camera cast against a spectacular natural setting encourages us to engage with nature in a creative partnership.

Overview

Explore a journey into the microclimate of an injured man lying by the side of the road as he regains consciousness. Looks at the social shift in attitude towards a body changed by injury. The piece implies that deepening the connection with nature allows us to transcend limitations.

Methods 

Butoh technique, contemplative movement.

 What I want you to do is come as a movement artist with some 
creative input into the themes.

 What I will do is draw up some themes and get them to you in advance, some of which will repeat work previously explored.

 What we want to achieve is brief bites of the work to suggest the feel of the piece and how it will be handled, so that funders and sponsors could ‘buy’ into it. 

 What I can put on the table

Bursary for students and low-waged: £10 to cover expenses and travel costs.

this piece is site-specific and film location is the green East Knoyle Wiltshire.
