Elevate U.Dance platform returns on 26th & 27th Feb 2011 at Pavilion Dance and promises to be even bigger and better than before…
Tomorrows dance stars will perform at Pavilion Dance later this month in a celebration of youth dance at Elevate U.Dance platform. With performances ranging from hip hop to ballet this is an event which showcases a range of talent from soloists, youth dance companies and dance crews. Due to popular demand Sunday tickets have almost sold out but there are still seats available on Saturday 26th February!
‘We are so pleased to be able to present Elevate at Pavilion Dance this year. It is fantastic to use this brand new facility which has just opened in September. Our aim through Elevate has always been to give the young people the opportunity to work in the same conditions as professional companies would do, so this is ideal.” says Aurore Parkin, Dance Development Coordinator at Activate.
Elevate offers up to 150 young dancers the chance to take part in workshops with visiting artists, work with a professional technical and lighting team and perform as part of a county youth dance event at this exciting new dance venue.
Elevate promises 2 evenings of high quality youth dance performances that is not to be missed! The performance starts at 6pm for each night. European premiere of Congregation. A fascinating new video installation which turns pedestrians into performers as they interact with ever-changing colours and shapes illuminating Bournemouth Square. Created by KMA and curated by Bournemouth-based media arts organisation SCAN.
The first Inside Out weekend also included thrilling outdoor dance to transform familiar town centre locations… Expect the unexpected with the England premiere of performances by the acclaimed French company Ex Nihilo. And the entertaining eccentricity of integrated company StopGAP.
There's was also a chance to Meet the Artists to find out more about the creative processes, motivation and methods involved when creating work specifically for outdoor spaces.

Our after-dusk journey at the historic Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers. Led to the former quarrying site of Winspit, cradled in Jurassic Coast cliffs. Inspired by the drama of this most remarkable of places, this awe-inspiring performance combines the phenomenal accordian-playing of Kimmo with magical animations by Dorset-based Paper Cinema.

Quidams (France)

One of the most popular pieces of outdoor performance – a beautiful and enchanting processional spectacle from Quidams. Five giant white figures silently explore Poole Quay in search of light. The dreamy, ethereal characters then gently journey towards a spell-binding musical finale.

NoFit State Circus (UK)

Part playground, part bandstand, NoFit State takes the tent of its circus for a celebration of the secret life of parks – featuring the public themselves who will be part of the finale show, complete with pyrotechnics, aerial artists, dance and music.
As well as the finale show, people were able to watch open rehearsals on and take part in taster sessions to reveal their own talents.
