THE BRIDPORT PRIZE CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION

lemn-sissay_6820The Bridport Prize international creative writing competition established in 1973, is Bridport Arts Centre’s flagship project.

It has four categories –  poetry (max 42 lines); short stories (max 5,000 words); flash fiction (max 250 words) and The Peggy Chapman-Andrews Award for a First Novel, named in honour of the Prize’s founder (8,000 words). 

The prizes include £5,000 for the winners of the poetry and short story competitions; £1,000 for the winner of flash fiction and £1,000 for the winner of the novel award plus up to a year’s mentoring from award partners The Literary Consultancy https://literaryconsultancy.co.uk through their Chapter & Verse mentoring scheme.

Entry is open to any writer aged 16 or over provided the submitted work is previously unpublished. For full details see https://www.bridportprize.org.uk/content/competition

Judges for 2017 are Lemn Sissay for poetry, Peter Hobbs for short stories, Kit de Waal for flash fiction and Nathan Filer for novels.
