Face Forward is an exciting new project in Dorset. These posts are funded through Big Lottery Fund and the European Union through the European Social Fund Working in partnership with voluntary and community sector delivery partners who are specialists in engagement, motivation and employment activities with young adults furthest from the labour market.
The project aims to support young adults aged 15-24 in activities to improve their work readiness. Participants will include people who are marginalised from mainstream activity through personal or circumstantial barriers (e.g. not in education, employment or training – NEET; experience some form of disability or economic difficulty). The project will use a person-centred approach, providing a range of supported activities to address individual needs.
Face Forward is currently being co-produced with the support of local young adults. Peer-to-peer engagement will be at the heart of the project
Led by and in partnership with Ansbury Guidance Careers and Employability Experts, The Arts Development Company (TADC) will deliver a bespoke leadership and employability skills programme for Face Forward in Sturminster Newton from June 2017-December 2019.
Through creative activities and our links across the creative and cultural sector young people will grow in confidence as young leaders and workers. This programme of work will include mentoring, youth leadership training and opportunities, skills development in business and marketing, social enterprise, running events, technical, production, fundraising, peer mentoring and budgeting. They will grow in confidence to co-produce events, run their own company and work in the sector. There will be volunteering and work shadowing opportunities to help participants identify what they want to do across creative, cultural, tourism and the heritage sectors. The will also have the opportunity to achieve Social Enterprise and Arts Award qualifications.
We are seeking to fill a part time post to work in Sturminster Newton (North Dorset) for the next 2.5 years with small groups of young adults (minimum 20 in each town over 3 years) to co-ordinate this programme and meet our specific outcomes: increased confidence, enhanced employability, leadership and business skills, connectivity with industry and work experience, as well as achieve qualifications where appropriate (e.g. Arts Award, Social Enterprise Qualification) and establish new social enterprise(s).
We anticipate the people appointed will be great team players; they will understand young adults who are disadvantaged in some way and be able to communicate effectively with them as well as having an understanding of the creative, cultural and business sector. Successful candidates will be well organised, great coordinators, able to work with different types of people and to meet targets, have good ideas, as well as being willing to work flexibly. They need to be able to lead and enable as well as collaborate. We will arrange training for the successful candidates as Arts Award and Social Enterprise Advisors if required.
TADC is an employee owned Public Service Mutual (PSM) with a strong commitment to collaborative working, ethical business development and social enterprise and all employees will be expected to commit to working with the TADC team to achieve these goals.
