SIMPLY HUMAN APRIL/MAY 2012

SIMPLY HUMAN is the final and sixth, in the EU Wake Up Cultural Partnership Project which encompasses a shared belief that the work and the growing partnership of performing arts and cultural activist organisations in Europe and the Balkan region, is a positive example for the development of society through culture. Culture is our social mechanism to develop peaceful and empathetic community.

At the centre of this project is a group of young cultural leaders who believe that culture is more powerful than politics and economics and use cultural activity, in particular music and theatre, to bring divided communities together.

Article 27.The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.

SIMPLY HUMAN is a cultural exploration and exchange of ideas and skills around the practice of using music and the creative arts to educate, inspire and encourage tolerance and understanding between people.

SIMPLY HUMAN celebrates diverse cultures and peaceful co-existence through performance.

SIMPLY HUMAN links local and international initiatives taking place from September 2011 – August 2012 that promote human rights, youth cultural leadership and tolerance through creative learning and cultural exchange.  It aims to empower young people involved to apply the skills and knowledge they gain through exchange and learning to their respective communities.
